This is the second one of the Grind & Brew that I have bought and I am only buying the second one because it’s at such a fantastic price and I would like a spare in case they give up making them. The 1st one is still in use and should become the backup just because it does not have the charcoal water filtering system. I don’t have any issue with the grind noise . I’ve been only using bottled water since day one and will keep on doing so with the new one even with the charcoal filter because I think the water contributes fifty percent to letting all of the flavour of the bean come through ( I only grind ).

I also use the gold tone permanent filter with a paper filter for keeping the pot ground free. With regard to cleanup, I haven’t got to be engaged with the remnant from hard water since I mostly use bottled water ; I simply wash all of the parts at my sink which has water from the water softener that also has a charcoal filter ( If you cannot tell, I’m taking cleaner water in kitchen gravely ). I then towel dry off the parts as much as I am able to and then let them air dry ( leaving the lid open also keeps condensation from forming within ).

TIP : The simplest way to keep condensation from forming is to open the lid after the brew process has stopped. I suspect some have an issue with employing a comprehensive set up and upkeep routine, but to me it keeps a smooth operation and gives me the best tasting coffee.

My daily maker!

Have owned this coffee maker for four years now and it works, and that’s asserting a lot for a shopper appliance. Purchased at a vacation sale at JCpenneys for a similar price as today’s sale. Well how does it work you ask? Grinds coffee, yes it does. Brews coffee, yes again.

Pros : all in one machine, programmable, car shutoff
Cons : cleaning it, wastes coffee

In the final analysis, a good basic machine. The coffee waste / remnant on the grinder chute and cleaning that chute are my main grumbles. Till my burr grinder gave out, I ground my beans in it, and just utilized the maker like a less expensive maker. Have not had any issues. Definitely worth the cost.

Ditch the gold filter, and use the brown paper filters, less fine coffee grit in your cup, and less oil to raise your cholesterol.

There are 2 tiny negative items for this one. The water tank for the coffee side does best with a funnel though I’ve been successful just filling it. Coffee does drip onto the heating “pad” but wipes right off. Works for me. Acquired this one for the hot water. Have acquired other Cuisinart coffee makers and liked them all.

We ordered this Cuisinart for one another for Xmas . Been using it for 1 or 2 days now and it works fine. I do not drink coffee any more so what I drink uses hot water. I’d always have to put water in a measuring cup and heat up in the microwave. Now it’s prepared for my “fake” coffee whenever I desire and my oatmeal I eat daily. I do keep the reservoir full of water so that if I should made a decision to have something warm during the daytime, it’s good to go with a push of the mouse! I say the sole flub up we had was when I was programing it.

For 2 mornings it didn’t begin at the 6am time I’d set. it wasn’t the unit… It was ME! I set the clock to 6pm rather than the 6am time.. Did this for 2 days not realizing this was the blunder on my side. Hence just make absolutely certain when you programme it for your morning, you have got it in the A.M. Time.. I was so terrified something was wrong with it. it wasn’t.. It was me!!! It does take 1 or 2 minutes to set up.

Filling it up and letting it run thru a cycle before you use it.. Soak the filters for fifteen min. But after that.. She is ready to go. I haven’t any beefs. I just actually adore having that hot water at my finger tips.

Good appliance but NOT 12 CUPS!!!

Overall I am pleased with this acquisition. For the previous one or two years my man and I’ve used our french press and espresso maker, but wished to get a programable machine so coffee is prepared when we wake up in the morning. This machine is convenient to use, straightforward to programme, meets our wishes. We got it on sale and are satisfied with it. Nevertheless it’s not a twelve cup machine.

The bottle is measured out with lines indicating twelve cups, as is the water reader on the side of the machine. THESE MEASUREMENTS Aren’t correct. Employing a two cup pyrex glass measuring cup I put six cups of water into the bottle, and it came above the eight cup line – it came to the same line in the machine. There isn’t any way the bottle or machine can hold twelve cups of water. Not a big score for our use, but it is defificient and / or fraudulent.

As other reviewers mentioned pouring water in is rather hard since it is difficult to see the cup marks in the water reservoir but that’s simply unravelled by putting water in the bottle first and decanting it in from there. It keeps the coffee hot so the last one up in the morning has coffee nearly as good as the 1st one.

One or two visitors have commented on the red metallic finish and how pretty it is. Only four stars is on account of the cost. Look for a deal like we probably did.

As you can know, Cuisinart has came from insolvency reinvigorated with top products. I adore the retro look and all of the features. The detail attention and build is glorious. Yes, you can pour from the bottle without drips. Yes, you can grab a cup while brewing without dripping coffee on the burner. Yes, you can slide the coffee maker across the counter to get to the sink water hose : the front feet are rubber ( to hold the maker in place ) while the back feet are sliders ( so that you can lean and slide the coffee maker ). I like my coffee hot and robust : can do.

Only improvement is generally to have an external water tube for ease in filling. Set-up for clock, heater, time-off, and vehicle brew is intuitive and simple. Cuisinart thought about simplicity of use and implemented it well.

Good while it lasted…again..!

I was going to give this coffeemaker a favorable review, and a second chance. We had one that lasted about two yrs. Always made perfect coffee and needed least effort. Never failed. One AM, kaboom. Coffee started to spill all around the place. I came down to the kitchen and there had been coffee all over the counter and floor. Cleaned everything up, filled it up again ( water only-to test ) and the water was evaporating ( making evap sound that often occurred at end of cycle ) from the beginning. Again, evap and water everywhere.

I might have taken it to a store to get it fixed, or me attempting to fix it ( though after better look I could not tell ), but we both have highly busy lives, so I made up my mind to just purchase another one. Heck, it was excellent for close to three yrs. Cant beat the cost. BUT….. This one lasted one yr a quarter. Just this AM it occur all over again.

I am fearful this time Im done. Time to move on squeeze. I gotta find me a trusty coffee maker A.S.A.P. Hence i give it a three star review.

It’s a great coffee maker…until it breaks. I called the maker to attempt to get consumer support and all I got was “yes, we hear this occurs often with this model”. I also got numbers and information on where to send it to get it fixed “IF it is fixable” according to the rep.

The Black & Decker DCM18S Brew ‘n Go was excellent for the initial few months. It is rather inexpensively created. The permanent basket is a wonderful idea, but awkward. There isn’t any place near my office to give it a clean, and simply turning it the other way up and drumming it doesn’t remove all of the grounds. Wiping it presses the grounds into the mesh. This metal filter would be fine if use close to a sink with a spray head.

I use Melita four filters, which I must fold. Melita two filters are too little. The expulsion of hot water into the filter is awfully powerful, causing grounds to splash up and around a two paper filter, ending up in the mug. After a few months, condensed steam started trickling copiously round the edges of the reservoir lid. Each time I brew, water pools all round the coffee maker. Like most coffee makers, this one’s basket has a nub at the bottom that moves upward when the lidded mug is prepared opening the aperture to permit the liquid to flow into the mug. This slid out after around 5 months.

Now I have to be absolutely sure to wait till the last drop falls before moving the mug. At the end, this coffee maker doesn’t realize its potential. I’m replenishing my search for a well-made, correctly working, easy, single-mug coffee maker in the sub-$40 range.

Great for College Student!!

I got this for my university student bro, and he adores it. As a pre-med student, he has morning laboratories that need some early treks thru snow ( a change, coming from Texas ). Having something warm to take with him is precisely what he required! But he did not need a complete coffee pot ; he just wanted one mug’s worth. This is ideal for him.

Even if he is studying in his room, he’ll make a drink mug by mug. This gets rid of the requirement for a whole coffee pot. He is saying the mug keeps his tea or coffee warm for a good period, too. When I asked him for comments for this review, he probably did say the coffee grounds occasionally spill over into the mug although he is extremely careful not to add more than he should. He said the filter does not clean as simply as other permanent filters do.
